When a guitarist needs modern high-gain aggression without sacrificing the definition that keeps fast riffs and low-tuned chords articulate, this used Wampler Dracarys Distortion was created specifically for that job. The pedal grew out of Brian Wampler's pursuit of the tight, crushing guitar tones associated with Swedish metal guitarist Ola Englund, known for his work with The Haunted, Feared, and Six Feet Under. Rather than simply piling on more distortion, Wampler focused the Dracarys around the qualities that define contemporary metal guitar: percussive low-end response, aggressive voicing, substantial gain, and enough note separation to keep complex chords and rapid picking from disappearing into compression.

At the center of the Dracarys is Wampler's active three-band EQ, giving the player independent control over Bass, Mids, and Treble alongside dedicated Volume and Gain controls. A Tight/Open switch changes the pedal's clipping and response, allowing it to move between a more immediate, controlled attack for modern metal and a more open character when greater breadth and dynamics are desired. While its natural habitat includes progressive metal, thrash, death metal, djent, and other high-gain styles, reducing the Gain reveals a broader side of the circuit that can cover hard rock and classic-rock overdrive as well.

Built in the USA with top-mounted jacks and a compact enclosure, the Dracarys was designed to integrate easily into a working pedalboard. Relay true-bypass switching and a soft-touch footswitch provide quiet, dependable operation, while support for either 9V or 18V power gives players flexibility when assembling their rig.
