Built around the idea that a smaller acoustic can still deliver a confident, expressive voice, the Taylor Next Generation 312ce 12-Fret combines all-solid tonewoods, comfortable proportions, and modern Taylor engineering in a remarkably versatile Grand Concert. Its Grand Concert body pairs a spruce top with solid sapele back and sides, creating a versatile voice with clear highs, a present midrange, and woody low-end character without requiring the physical size of a larger acoustic. The 12-fret configuration further shapes the experience, contributing to a more relaxed fretting feel and an intimate relationship between player and instrument.
Taylor's V-Class bracing gives the smaller Grand Concert a strong foundation for volume, sustain, clarity, and note definition, allowing the 312ce to remain articulate whether played delicately or with a more assertive attack. Its shorter 24.875" scale contributes to a slightly softer feel under the fingers, while the 1.75" nut provides comfortable string spacing for fingerstyle passages and detailed chord voicings. The Standard Carve Neo-Tropical mahogany neck and West African Crelicam ebony fingerboard maintain the familiar precision and playability associated with Taylor, and the Venetian cutaway keeps the upper register readily accessible. Together, these elements make the guitar especially well suited to fingerstyle, folk, singer-songwriter work, acoustic pop, recording, and nuanced accompaniment.
Visually, the 312ce 12-Fret takes an understated approach that lets its woods and compact proportions do much of the talking. A slotted headstock with nickel tuners and West African Crelicam ebony buttons gives the guitar a traditional 12-fret flavor, while faux-pearl Gemstone fingerboard inlays, a Firestripe pickguard, black binding, and a three-ring black rosette add subtle contrast. Taylor's Expression System 2 electronics extend that acoustic personality to amplified performance through a behind-the-saddle pickup design, making this an instrument equally comfortable at home, in the studio, or connected to a stage system. Available now at Haggerty’s Music, this 12-fret beauty ships with a sturdy hardshell case.
