The 1978 Takamine C-132S brings the warmth and expressiveness of traditional Spanish classical guitar design together with the thoughtful Japanese craftsmanship that helped establish Takamine’s reputation. Its solid cedar top gives the instrument a naturally warm, immediate response, with a strong fundamental, rounded treble, and a rich, intimate voice that shines through delicate fingerpicking and expressive classical passages. Rosewood back and sides add depth and resonance, giving the sound a pleasing sense of balance and complexity. Built for nylon strings, the C-132S offers a distinctly different playing experience from a steel-string acoustic, favoring a relaxed, nuanced touch and beautifully organic tone.
The traditional classical body is paired with a mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard, and rosewood bridge, creating a straightforward, dependable foundation. Its 25.59-inch scale length and generous 2.008-inch nut width provide the room expected of a classical guitar, making it comfortable for fingerstyle technique and more intricate chord voicings. Traditional ladder bracing and an 18-fret layout reflect the construction of this vintage model. Finished in natural gloss, the C-132S has the timeless appearance of a traditional classical instrument.
Dating to March 1978, this Japanese-made Takamine is an appealing find for players who appreciate vintage instruments and the character that comes with decades of history. The solid cedar top, rosewood body, and traditional construction give it a voice suited to classical repertoire, Spanish-inspired playing, and quieter, expressive musical settings. With its distinctive vintage character and thoughtful appointments, the Takamine C-132S offers a chance to experience a memorable part of Takamine’s early history. Available now at Haggerty's Music.
