This used Giovan Paolo Maggini violin will ship insured, fully set up, and inspected from Rapid City, SD. It is in Very Good condition with some scuffs along the whole violin, scratching on the back of the body, marks from wear on the right side and the back of the body, and some chipping in the finish. This violin comes with a bow.

This Giovan Paolo Maggini “Brescia 1663” violin brings the distinctive character of the Brescian school to a full-size 4/4 instrument, built as a German-made copy of Maggini’s celebrated designs. The large, elongated body and reddish-brown to golden-brown varnish give it an unmistakably old-world presence, while the highly figured maple back and ribs add plenty of visual character. The spruce top is comparatively straight-grained and understated, letting the bold outline and figured maple take center stage.

The Maggini influence really comes through in the details. The long, narrow f-holes and Maggini-style scroll give the violin a distinctive Brescian appearance, while the apparent double purfling adds another period-inspired touch. An ebony fingerboard, maple neck, maple bridge, bone-style nut, and four black tuning pegs round out a traditional setup, with the ebony-style tailpiece and chinrest keeping the overall look clean and classic.
