Some of the most inspiring acoustic guitars have never been the biggest. Introduced during the 1940s, the Gibson LG-2 quickly earned a reputation among folk singers, blues musicians, and songwriters for delivering a remarkably full, articulate voice from its compact body. The 50s Original series faithfully revives that heritage, preserving the vintage character, craftsmanship, and unmistakable tone that made the LG-2 a favorite of generations of players. Available now at Haggerty's Music, this Gibson LG-2 50s Original includes its original hardshell case and offers a timeless acoustic experience that feels equally at home on stage, in the studio, or on the couch.
Built with a solid Sitka spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides, the LG-2 delivers an exceptionally balanced tonal character that belies its modest dimensions. Scalloped top bracing gives the guitar impressive responsiveness and dynamic range, while the shorter 24.75" scale length and Historic V mahogany neck create an inviting playing experience with a distinctly vintage feel. The smaller body is comfortable for extended playing sessions, yet projects with surprising warmth, clarity, and focus, making it particularly rewarding for fingerstyle, flatpicking, traditional folk, Americana, blues, and singer-songwriter accompaniment.
The LG-2's voice is defined by crisp articulation, woody midrange warmth, and a sweet, open top end that remains balanced whether played softly or with authority. Individual notes retain outstanding separation, while chords bloom with a natural richness that records beautifully and fills a room without overwhelming it. Combining classic Gibson craftsmanship, premium tonewoods, and authentic vintage-inspired appointments, the LG-2 50s Original continues one of Gibson's most beloved small-body traditions, offering players an heirloom-quality instrument built to inspire decades of music.

How accurate are your condition descriptions?
We treat condition grading as a contractual promise, not an approximation. When we list something as excellent, that reflects a specific, consistent standard we apply across every instrument.
