Few electric guitars have remained as culturally and musically relevant across seven decades as the Fender Stratocaster, and this used 70th Anniversary American Professional II Stratocaster was created to celebrate that remarkable legacy without treating it as something frozen in the past. Released as part of Fender's limited 70th Anniversary collection, it takes the familiar American Professional II platform and gives it a distinctive commemorative identity, most visibly through its dramatic Comet Burst finish over a flame maple top. The result feels appropriately special for an anniversary instrument while remaining, first and foremost, a professional Stratocaster meant to be played.
The Stratocaster has always earned its reputation through versatility, and this anniversary model embraces that quality with a set of specially voiced 70th Anniversary V-Mod II single-coils. Players can expect the clarity, articulation, sparkle, and responsive attack that make a great Strat such a useful musical tool, with enough range to move naturally between glassy cleans, percussive rhythm sounds, expressive blues leads, and more aggressive overdriven tones. The familiar five-way pickup selection is expanded by a push-push control that can bring the neck pickup into additional combinations, making this an especially capable choice for blues, rock, funk, pop, country, indie, worship, studio work, and practically any setting where an expressive single-coil guitar earns its place in the mix.
Fender also designed the American Professional II around the needs of players who spend serious time with an instrument, and those refinements give this anniversary Strat a modern sense of comfort without abandoning its familiar identity. Its Deep C neck has rolled fingerboard edges and a smooth Super-Natural satin feel, while the sculpted heel makes movement into the upper register feel less restrictive. The responsive two-point tremolo and locking further support a guitar designed for expressive playing and dependable everyday use. For a player who wants a Stratocaster with genuine commemorative significance but has no intention of leaving it in its case, this used 70th Anniversary model offers an appealing intersection of Fender history, modern performance, and unmistakable visual character. Available now at Haggerty’s Music.
