The LTD AW-XJ7 Baritone EverTune is built for the crushing precision and relentless heaviness that define Alex Wade’s work with Whitechapel. As a founding guitarist of one of deathcore’s most influential bands, Wade has helped shape a sound built on tight low-end riffing, intricate harmonized leads, and punishing rhythmic accuracy. This signature model reflects those demands perfectly. Taking ESP’s aggressive XJ body shape and pairing it with a 27" baritone scale and EverTune bridge system, the AW-XJ7 is purpose-built for modern extreme metal and the deepest tunings imaginable.
The extended 27" scale length provides the string tension and clarity required for low tunings while maintaining definition and articulation. The EverTune constant-tension bridge is a game changer for players who demand absolute tuning stability — whether in the studio layering complex rhythms or onstage under punishing conditions. Notes stay locked in, chords ring true, and intonation remains consistent across the fretboard. The swamp ash body adds punch and snap, while the five-piece maple/walnut/padauk neck enhances strength, sustain, and attack. The Macassar ebony fingerboard and stainless steel frets contribute to a fast, articulate feel that thrives under technical, high-speed playing.
Equipped with a single DiMarzio D-Activator 7 pickup, this guitar is voiced for aggressive clarity. Players can easily dial into tight, percussive low end, focused mids that cut through dense mixes, and crisp highs that retain definition under high gain. The push/pull coil split adds surprising versatility, offering cleaner, sharper textures when needed. While it’s clearly at home in deathcore, metalcore, and progressive metal, the AW-XJ7’s precision and stability also make it ideal for any genre that demands extended range, surgical accuracy, and uncompromising tone. Available now at Haggerty’s Music, this is a modern metal instrument designed without compromise; it's sonic weapon engineered for players who build their sound on power, precision, and control.
