A fresh take on one of the most beloved double-cutaway designs ever created, the Epiphone Les Paul Special Double Cut Figured blends vintage-inspired style with modern versatility. Originally introduced in the late 1950s as a more accessible sibling to the Les Paul Standard, the Les Paul Special quickly became a favorite among players seeking lightweight comfort, upper fret access, and raw rock-and-roll attitude. This modern figured edition captures that spirit while adding a stunning AAA figured maple veneer top and upgraded humbucking electronics for expanded tonal flexibility.
The double-cut mahogany body offers excellent resonance and sustain while remaining lightweight and comfortable for long sessions on stage or in the studio. Paired with a fast-playing 60s SlimTaper mahogany neck and bound rosewood fingerboard, this guitar feels immediately familiar in the hands. The Bourbon Burst gloss finish highlights the figured maple veneer beautifully, delivering a classic appearance with enough visual flair to stand out under stage lights. Grover Rotomatic tuners and LockTone hardware ensure solid tuning stability and dependable performance night after night.
Tonally, the Les Paul Special Double Cut Figured delivers far more versatility than its vintage predecessors thanks to its ProBucker humbuckers. The ProBucker 2 neck pickup produces warm, articulate cleans and smooth lead tones, while the hotter ProBucker 3 bridge pickup adds bite, punch, and sustain for heavier rhythm work and soaring solos. From blues and classic rock to indie-alternative, and modern gain-driven styles, this guitar offers a wide range of inspiring tones while retaining the unmistakable character that made the Les Paul Special a legend; available now at Haggerty’s Music.
