The Taylor Custom Legacy K10 LTD takes the familiar Dreadnought concept in a more distinctive direction, pairing luxurious tonewoods with a body design that feels thoughtfully tailored to the player. Its A-grade figured Hawaiian koa back and sides showcase rich natural variegation, giving each curve depth and character, while the premium Engelmann spruce top brings clarity, responsiveness, and a beautifully open voice. Together, these woods create a sound with impressive midrange presence, warm, substantial lows, and the unmistakable top-end sparkle that makes koa so captivating. Finished in gloss to bring out every detail of the wood grain, the K10 LTD is an instrument that makes a statement before you even strike the first chord.
The deeper, tapered body adds another dimension to the guitar’s voice, measuring an additional eighth of an inch at the heel and tail compared with a standard profile. That extra depth, combined with the shorter 24.875 inch scale length, gives the Taylor Custom Legacy K10 LTD a unique balance of resonance and playing comfort. Inside, flat scalloped open X-bracing allows the lower bout to move more freely, helping the guitar produce greater warmth and low-end depth while preserving the definition needed for intricate fingerpicking and articulate chord work. The result is a rich, enveloping acoustic voice that can fill a room with full-bodied strumming or reveal plenty of nuance when played softly.
The playing experience is equally considered, with an A-grade mahogany neck featuring Taylor’s NT construction and a comfortable satin finish that feels natural beneath the hand. The polished Crelicam ebony fingerboard offers a smooth, refined surface, while the 1-3/4-inch nut width provides room for expressive fingerstyle playing and carefully voiced chords. A white TUSQ nut and white Micarta saddle complete the foundation, helping deliver a consistent, responsive feel across the fretboard. Every element works together to make this guitar feel inviting and expressive, encouraging the player to explore its tonal range rather than simply admire its looks.
The Taylor Custom Legacy K10 LTD finishes its presentation with appointments worthy of a special instrument. Ebony binding outlines the body, fingerboard, heel cap, and soundhole, while intricate Artist inlays in mother-of-pearl and green abalone bring striking detail to the polished ebony fretboard. A Honduran rosewood and paua abalone rosette adds another layer of natural color, complemented by carefully coordinated purfling and a backstrip that highlight the guitar’s elegant construction. Gotoh 510 antique gold tuning machines with ebony buttons provide precise, dependable tuning and a final touch of understated luxury. With its distinctive koa-and-spruce voice, exceptional visual craftsmanship, and one of only 52 made, the Taylor Custom Legacy K10 LTD is an acoustic guitar for players who want something truly special in both sound and feel. Available now at Haggerty's Music.
